Autonomous Finance
/aw-TAH-nuh-muhs · fuh-NANS/
tl;drAutonomous finance describes a finance function where AI agents run the operational work, transaction processing, reconciliation, reporting, compliance checks, continuously and without manual handoffs, while people set policy, review exceptions that genuinely need judgment, and make the calls that shape the business.
It's a broader claim than autonomous accounting. Autonomous accounting describes the books. Autonomous finance describes the whole function: treasury, FP&A, procurement, and the accounting close all running on the same continuous, agent-driven layer instead of a patchwork of manual processes stitched together at reporting deadlines.
The finance team doesn't get replaced. Its job changes shape: from doing the transaction to owning the outcome. Light's agents are built for this shift, doing the operational work so finance leaders can spend their time forecasting, planning, and deciding.
