No-Touch Processing
/NOH · TUHCH · PRAH-se-sihng/
tl;drNo-touch processing describes an invoice or transaction that moves from receipt to posting without any person opening it, a system reads it, codes it, matches it, and posts it entirely on its own, reserving human review for the cases that genuinely need a judgment call.
The percentage of invoices that reach no-touch is one of the more honest ways to measure how much an AP process has actually been automated, as distinct from merely digitized. Getting a high no-touch rate requires the system to handle exceptions, not just the clean, standard cases.
