The world's most demanding finance teams run on Light.
- 01
Multi-entity accounting
Keep each company's records distinct within a shared finance platform. Documents post to the relevant entity's general ledger.
- 02
Multibook accounting
Maintain different reporting bases within an entity, such as local GAAP and group IFRS. Trace adjustments between the books.
- 03
Consolidated reporting
Combine entity results into a group view, with intercompany eliminations and currency translation. Explore consolidation.
How do local and group books work together?
An entity may report under one accounting basis locally and another for the group. Multibook keeps those books connected to the same underlying transactions.
Local and group books
Keep statutory and group books side by side. Configure the accounting treatments your entity needs under each reporting basis.
Auditable differences
Trace the entries behind differences between statutory and group numbers, so a reviewer can follow each adjustment back to its source.
Compare entity records, accounting books and group reporting in the multi-entity accounting buying guide.
What should a local-to-group adjustment show?
Use an illustrative reconciliation to test the books. Assume the opening balances agree and finance has approved different depreciation charges for the current period in the local and group books. This example does not prescribe a treatment under a particular standard.
- 1
Local book
An asset costs €100,000. The local book records €20,000 accumulated depreciation and an €80,000 carrying amount.
- 2
Group adjustment
The approved group schedule requires €25,000 cumulative depreciation. A €5,000 additional expense and accumulated-depreciation adjustment bridges the difference, before tax effects.
- 3
Group book
The group carrying amount is €75,000. Retain the local balance, adjustment, reason and approval so a reviewer can explain both results.
Ask Light to demonstrate the required book configuration and postings against your approved policies. The multi-entity accounting guide separates entity records, accounting books and group consolidation.
