What is this page about: Light lets you define the products and services you sell as reusable records with default pricing and accounting settings. # What is the Products module?

In Light, the Products module lets you define the goods or services you sell to customers as reusable records. A product carries default pricing and default accounting settings, so you don't have to re-enter that information every time you build a contract or a sales invoice. Once a product exists, it can be reused across any number of contracts and invoices.

You can find the Products module by navigating to Revenue & Invoicing → Products.

# What columns appear on the Products list?

The Products page in Light shows every product in a table with three columns:

Use the search bar above the table to filter products by name.

# How do I create a product?

To create a product in Light:

1. Click + Create product. A side drawer opens

2. Fill in the Details section:

   • Name: Product name (appears on contracts and invoices)
   • Pricing model: Choose Fixed or Package
   • Recurrence: Choose One time, Monthly, Quarterly, Half yearly, or Yearly
   • Custom properties (if any are configured for products)

3. Fill in the Accounting section:

   • Default tax code: The tax code applied by default. You can also pick Avatax to use Avatax tax determination (a separate dialog opens to enter the Avatax code).
   • Default ledger account: The GL account where revenue posts by default

4. Fill in the Price section:

   • Enter the currency and amount for the default price
   • Click + Add more currencies to add additional prices in other currencies

5. Click Create

Defaults set on a product (tax code, ledger account, prices) flow through to contract and invoice lines. They can still be overridden on each line.

# How do I edit a product?

To edit an existing product in Light:

1. Click a product row in the list. The edit drawer opens
2. Update any field (Name, Pricing model, Recurrence, tax code, ledger account, prices, custom properties)
3. Click Save

If you have unsaved changes and try to close the drawer, Light asks you to confirm before discarding them, so you won't lose an edit by accident.

# How does multi-currency pricing work?

Multi-currency pricing is built directly into the product form in Light, rather than in a separate currency tab. A single product can carry a price in more than one currency at once.

In the Price section of the create/edit drawer:

1. Click + Add more currencies
2. Pick the currency and enter the amount
3. Repeat for each additional currency
4. Use the ✕ button next to any pricing row to remove it

When a contract or invoice is created in a specific currency, Light automatically uses the matching product price for that currency if one exists.

# What pricing models does Light support?

Light supports two pricing models, set on each product, so you can categorise how you actually sell:

• Fixed: For products priced per unit
• Package: For products sold as a bundle rather than priced per unit

Both models calculate the line price the same way (unit price × quantity). Pricing model is a label for how you categorise and describe the product. It doesn't change how the price is calculated.

# What billing recurrences are available?

The Recurrence field on a product defines how often it is typically billed when used on a contract. Light supports five recurrence options:

• One time: Billed once
• Monthly
• Quarterly
• Half yearly
• Yearly

# How do tax codes and Avatax work on a product?

The Default tax code field on a product in Light accepts either:

• A tax code from your tax codes registry (Settings → Tax codes), or
• An Avatax code, when Avatax tax determination is enabled. Selecting Avatax opens a dialog to enter the Avatax code.

# How are products synced from external systems shown?

Light can keep products in sync with the systems you already use. Products imported from external systems show a "Generated from [source]" indicator at the top of the product form, with a button to copy the source ID. Supported sources include:

• HubSpot
• Chargebee

# Where do I find the Products module in Light?

# What's the difference between the Fixed and Package pricing models?

Fixed and Package are labels for how you categorise a product: Fixed for products priced per unit, Package for products sold as a bundle. Both calculate the line price the same way (unit price × quantity); choosing Package doesn't change how the price is calculated.

# Can a product have prices in more than one currency?

Yes. Use + Add more currencies in the Price section of the product form to add as many currency/amount pairs as you need. Light picks the matching price automatically when a contract or invoice is created in that currency.

# What recurrence options can I set on a product?

One time, Monthly, Quarterly, Half yearly, or Yearly.

# Which external systems can products sync from?

Salesforce, HubSpot, and Chargebee.

# If I edit a product's price, does it change existing contracts and invoices?

Defaults set on a product flow through to new contract and invoice lines, but they can be overridden on each line, so changing a product's default doesn't retroactively change lines that already have their own value.
