Light and Stripe Billing

Stripe Billing and Light do different jobs, and work best together. Stripe Billing runs subscriptions and gets you paid: flat, tiered, volume and usage pricing, hosted invoices, automated collection with Smart Retries, tax automation and 135+ currencies. Light is the agentic ERP that runs the books after the payment: Light's Stripe integration syncs every finalised Stripe invoice, payment and credit note into the ledger as it happens, and Light adds the general ledger, AP and vendor payments on local rails in 80+ countries, corporate cards and expenses, revenue recognition and multi-entity consolidation.

Stripe gets you paid, Light runs the books

Keep Stripe for subscriptions, checkout and collecting payments. Light is where everything after the payment lives: the ledger, the close, revenue recognition and reporting, with AP, cards and expenses in the same system.

  1. 01

    What syncs from Stripe

Light connects to Stripe with an API key and receives Stripe events as they happen. Each finalised Stripe invoice becomes a sales invoice in Light, payments are recorded on the matching invoice, credit notes become customer credits, and voids carry over. Customers and products are matched, the original Stripe PDFs are attached, and your Stripe balance can be connected as a bank feed for reconciliation.

  2. 02

    Charge Light invoices through Stripe

Invoices you raise in Light can be collected through Stripe too. The customer saves a payment method once through a Stripe checkout link, Light charges it when the invoice falls due, and the invoice is marked paid once the Stripe payout is reconciled through the Stripe bank feed.

How Light and Stripe work together

  1. 01

Every Stripe invoice in the ledger

Finalised Stripe invoices arrive in Light as sales invoices, with payments, credit notes and voids synced as they happen.

  2. 02

    Revenue recognized in the books

Light manages IFRS 15 and ASC 606 revenue recognition with pre-built templates, on the same ledger as the invoices.

  3. 03

    Everything else in one system

AP, vendor payments, corporate cards, expenses and multi-entity consolidation sit next to your Stripe revenue.

Frequently asked questions

Do we replace Stripe if we move to Light?

No. Light works alongside Stripe: keep Stripe for payments and billing, and Light syncs Stripe invoices, payments and credit notes into the ledger.

Is Stripe Billing a general ledger?

No. Stripe Revenue Recognition keeps a revenue sub-ledger and exports journal entries to a general ledger; Stripe invoices and payments sync into an accounting system such as Light.

Can Light collect payment through Stripe?

Yes. Light charges your sales invoices through Stripe using the customer's saved payment method, and the payment is recorded on the invoice.
