Adding your Light card to Apple Pay or Google Pay lets you pay with your iPhone, Android phone, or smartwatch anywhere contactless payments are accepted, and it only takes a minute. Your spending limit, expense coding, and receipt requirements stay the same as with the physical or virtual card.

Add your Light card to Apple Pay or Google Pay

Open the Light app and go to Cards. Both physical and virtual Light cards can be added. The Add to wallet button appears only on your own Expense cards, not on vendor cards.

Tap Add to wallet to open a single dialog with an iPhone tab and an Android tab.

On iPhone (Apple Pay):

  1. Open the Apple Wallet app, or scan the QR code shown in the Light app
  2. Tap Debit or Credit Card
  3. Choose Scan to capture the card automatically, or Enter Card Details Manually
  4. Agree to Apple's terms to finish

On Android (Google Pay):

  1. Open the Google Wallet app
  2. Tap Add to Wallet, then Payment card
  3. Enter your Light card details
  4. Agree to Google's terms to finish

Once added, your Light card appears in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.

Pay with Apple Pay or Google Pay

iPhone:

  • Hold your phone near the payment reader
  • Authenticate with Face ID or Touch ID

Apple Watch:

  • Double-press the side button to open your wallet
  • Hold your watch near the reader
  • Authenticate if prompted

Android phone:

  • Unlock your phone
  • Hold it near the reader
  • Some merchants don't require authentication for small amounts

Android watch:

  • Keep your watch unlocked
  • Hold it near the reader

Apple Pay and Google Pay use tokenised contactless payments, so your card number is never shared with the merchant.

What changes and what doesn't

  • Spending limit: unchanged. Apple Pay and Google Pay use the same limit and the same expense tracking as your Light card.
  • Receipts: still required. Attach a receipt in Light after every payment, just like any other card transaction.
  • Security: your payment details are protected by your phone's own security: Face ID, Touch ID, or a PIN.

Remove a card from Apple Pay or Google Pay

  1. Go to your device's wallet or payment settings
  2. Find your Light card
  3. Select Remove card

You can re-add it any time through the Apple Wallet app for Apple Pay or the Google Wallet app for Google Pay.
