Attaching receipts to your Light card transactions is important for company record-keeping and expense tracking. It's a simple process that takes just a minute, and Light's AI helps match everything automatically.
How to Attach a Receipt
After you've made a purchase with your Light card, follow these steps:
- Open the Light app and go to Cards
- Find the transaction you just made in your recent activity
- Tap on the transaction to view details
- Select Attach Receipt
- Choose to upload a photo of your receipt or a PDF file
- Take a photo of the physical receipt (or upload a file you have)
- Light's AI will automatically read and match the details
- Review the matched information and confirm
That's it! Your receipt is now attached and your finance team can see it.
What Light's AI Does
Once you attach a receipt, Light automatically reads the details like:
- Merchant name and location
- Transaction date
- Total amount
- Items purchased (if the receipt shows them)
In most cases, the AI matches everything perfectly. You can always adjust details if something doesn't look right before confirming.
Multiple Receipts
Each card transaction holds a single receipt file. If you have several pages or images for one purchase, combine them into a single PDF before uploading. To swap a receipt, remove the existing one from the transaction and attach the new file.
What Happens If You Don't Attach a Receipt
Light notifies you as soon as a card transaction goes through and a receipt is missing. If your company has Slack or Microsoft Teams connected, you'll get a "We are missing a receipt from your card transaction" message — just upload the receipt directly in that thread and Light will attach it to the transaction.
If your company has the Gmail integration enabled, Light can also fetch the receipt from your inbox automatically.
To keep things smooth and avoid delays, attach receipts as soon as you can after your purchase.
